It depends on your firmware and the actual VPN app. Manual proxy mode - This approach may not work in some situations. Filtering will work in both mobile and Wi-Fi networks.ģ. In automatic mode, enabling of filtering does not require any action from you. This mode is recommended if you use a rooted device. Automatic proxy mode - In this mode Adguard launch a local HTTP proxy server on your device. At the same time, VPN-server is located on your device, so that there is no need to pass your traffic through a remote server in order to filter it.Ģ. Local VPN mode - If you are using this mode, Adguard does not need ROOT privileges to carry out filtering. Adguard can use three modes of traffic filtering:ġ. Is there any alternative that is like Adblock, but for unrooted devices ?Ī: Adguard filters your browsers traffic by blocking requests to phishing and malicious websites and removing intrusive browser advertising. But if Adguard requires VPN, thats already a downside. Is that what happens with this app ? With Adblock it changed something in the HOSTS file and that worked fine. Things load slow as hell with Adguard activated, and it sure was that app, because when I turn it off, things load much faster. From the little I tested since yesterday, Adguard seems to work for what it says it does, but the internet speed leaves a lot to desire. Previously I usually used Adblock, which worked fine. Now, since I cant do that without root on this phone, I had to find some other apps for that. Before I always had Samsung Notes over the years, and could root it pretty quick after getting it and then use some other adblock apps. I came upon this app yesterday, since I (for the first time in a while) got a new phone yesterday which appearantely is no good way at all to root. Hi guys, I have to admit, I didnt read all 62 pages, just too much.
